Definitely VF-30, possibly EF-40. I'm not knowledgable about the strike characteristics of this issue. It may have also been cleaned in the past, but
I have no idea without looking at the coin in hand.

VF-30, possibly cleaned. There is also some PVC which makes me suspect a fake but nothing confirms this but gold is one of the least likely to get PVC.

Thank you for the info.

Re the possible PVC damage, this coin was found with a small group of others that included some copper ones that had green on them. I believe that the green on this coin is from contact with such copper coins and did not originate on the coin itself. This group of coins was "stored" for many years in an old coin purse that had a hinged metal top with a leather sack. It is possible that something in the leather (together with moisture) caused the copper coins to get the green gunk on them (they may have been in this little coin purse for up to 100 years, but there is no way to know for sure).

Be very careful with these coins when hey are raw because they are faked a lot. I cannot say weather or not it is real because I do not have much expierence with this series. I think this would fall around a VF grade.

That dig in the field behind and below the head doesn't help the cause. If it's real it might go very fine details.

Good deal! The only thing I thought might hurt it was the green gunk. Looks like a little " conservation" took care of that!

Nice!
