I recently hit 275 with my "One From Each Country" collection and told myself I would stop there, but... #276 Faroe Islands was calling my name:

You're getting up there. I know the Faroe coins are not as common. But stopping at 276? Come on wade, take a look here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380915443860 You don't have a coin from Central Asia in your photobucket... you know you want too....

ooooooh I'm not stopping ! (don't tell my wife) #277-280 already on the way, and the coin you linked now on my watch list :)
I think I could push to 300 but filling slots is getting expensive and I'm not a huge fan of the more affordable commemorative issues.

Nice coin. It has an interesting combination of emblems on the reverse; a trident, a scythe, and a caduceus.

Nice! You broke 280 countries. You last two additions I am not familiar with. I see you are pushing further back in time. Off to Wikipedia to get some information now.

Wow Wade that's an impressive feat so far! I'm lagging way behind at 178 countries so far

thanks MJJUDD, when I hit 175 I never thought I would hit 200, same for all the other milestones (225, 250 etc). I'm still thinking 300 will be a stretch but who knows?! #283 Togo 1924 #284 Equatorial African States 1962 #285 Weimar Republic 1928 (up for debate, some count simply as Germany however Krause recognizes as a separate country) #286 Germany 3rd Reich (again up for debate but the Nazi's did abolish the constitution of the Weimar Republic) although the design is similar to Weimar Republic coins (in fact the dates do cross over early on) later coins show a much different design including a swastika - which I chose not to include as my entry

Hey Wade how are taking thee photos? I see that it's with an iPhone, but how exactly? And what software do you use to get both sides on on one image like that? I just crossed 200 yesterday and am quickly approaching 225, getting tougher though for sure as you go.

iPhone techniques here: https://goccf.com/t/160092https://goccf.com/t/166588 (later in thread) https://goccf.com/t/180192 (later in thread) a ton more info in the photography section that has to do with lighting (I use a "daylight" 5000K spectrum fluorescent bulb) I use Paint Shop Pro 5. it is ancient but it does what I need! any freeware should be able to do the same thing. I resize the 2 single coin pics down to 1000 pixels in height, create a new image 2000x1000 then copy & paste the 2 individuals on to the new image side by side. then adjust the tone/saturation, finish by filling the background.

Do you have a RSFSR coin already? They're pretty cheap, I believe, and not particularly uncommon; and with your recent distinctions it's probably a different country (at least it's more of a different country than the Weimar is, what with having its own name). Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (an early version of Yugoslavia) would also be cool... I have one of their coins, but I've been under the impression that they're just not particularly easy to find (not expensive, just don't come up often).
I remember that when I myself counted the countries in my collection, I came up with something like 140, and that was with lots of cheating like treating French 1st/3rd/5th republic (/kingdom/1st empire/2nd empire) and UK/GB/England as different countries. I suspect that number would be much higher now, as it's been well over a year since I made that list, but it probably depends on the amount of "cheating" significantly.
