I spent 7 pretty poor condition bicentennial ikes at 7 eleven today, along with 1 gold washington. The guy didn't want to take them at first because he didn't know what they were!

I figure I take enough out of circulation that I could throw some back in!

Anybody else put anything they don't keep back into circulation ?

Aseegz, you could also consider adding these to the Project $100K. Circulating Dollar and Half Dollar Coinshttps://goccf.com/t/115851

They had some dollar-day sales at the local market today, so I went to the bank and got $20 in halves.

I sat in the car and opened the rolls and found nothing of interest so off to the store I went...

I got noodle-&-rice-A-roni, mac & cheese, chips, etc... adding it all up I came to $12. (actually $11.88 which kind of threw me off... one of the chips was listed as $2 but charged at 1.88)

So I started pulling half's out of my pocket, the bagger said "Wow I have one of those but never see them" I told her and the cashier, 'just ask at your bank'

I actually never like the idea of putting it into circulation I always hope someone says WOW I haven't seen one of those in a while... and keeps it so the bank has to get more and hopefully increase my chances of getting silver from a new batch

Edit:

because he didn't know what they were!

I had a cashier that thought the half was 25 cents... now if I had not handed her a quarter with it I could understand... but a quarter and a half IN HAND and she thinks they are the same

@adambur- That thread is strictly for gold dollars and halves :) Thanks though.

@ ASLAN thats a good point, I never thought of it that way...what we put back into circulation might end up back at the bank and being searched by us again! eek

@aseegz, there is actually a running count of ikes being kept in it as well, not just golden and halves. last time I saw an ike count it was close to $4k. look back at some of the posts and people call out the ike's spent as well.

I didn't do this, but yesterday my wife and I went to a huge festival in Cedarburg, WI. Thousands and thousands of people flood the historic downtown for food, music and shopping.

We grabbed something to eat at one of the food stands. I got $2.50 in change - a two dollar bill and a Kennedy half.

I thought that was fun and creative. I've never received a $2.00 in change.

If you look at my signature, there are threads for spending Dollar and Half Dollar coins, and for spending $2 bills, with total spent
