Got my first Mercury dime this weekend. It looks REALLY good in hand, but I'm wondering you guys think it makes it into the MS grades or if it is just a high AU. The split bands looked complete to the naked eye, but sadly aren't quite there on high magnification. There is some obvious lint from the coin flip, sorry.

And am I overusing this section? Hope I'm not spamming you guys with 3 this week.

I think it is high AU.
However, even with those pics, I can tell that it isn't FB. The bands, especially the center bands, must be completely separated.

Yeah, I can easily tell they aren't split bands here. I meant looking at the dime with the naked eye and even squinting really hard they did appear like they might be split. This is pretty crazy magnification for a dime!

Thanks for your grade.

I don't see cartwheel luster. Definite possibility it's been cleaned.

Unfortunately, I think it's AU details, cleaned.

On a different note, this forum is here to help people grade their coins and learn how to grade.

Every coin you post here gives us another opportunity to sharpen our skills by getting the feedback from the other graders.

Man I think I am 4 for 4 on cleaned coins this month. It's good newbie education though. I just spent 20 minutes reading about and comparing cartwheel luster with new coins and I think you are right. It's a little dull for the amount of wear.

Good lessons being learned, thanks.

Is this a photo or a scan? The light source makes it look like a scan. If this is a photo, AU details for sure. If it's scanned images, I'm not sure.

It's a photo but I probably over edited it in an attempt to highlight detail.
