What does the reverse look like? It might be a struck through wire? A closer shot of part the area affected should show a rounded trench in these areas if it is wire?

I would be inclined to say struck through, but I'm pretty new to this.

The line in question is rough and pitted whereas a coin struck through wire would usually have a smooth and even groove, this one is PMD.

The metal around the area in question is displaced. PMD.

Not sure on this one. Why does the area look filled in with something? I would soak it in mineral oil to see if it comes off?

No doubt, post-strike damage in my opinion. The black material within the pits may have caused the pitting in the first place. The other surfaces are damaged/corroded as well.

Just throwing it out there, thinking a heating element or fuse of some kind? Thanks, Doug.

I am most likely way off track here but was it PMD from being left under a metal leave shaped table leg, outdoor bowl or something. I had a coin with a weird pattern that was under a metal planter for years after I moved it it started to rot. or maybe curve from gutter of aluminum gutter drain on top of it. somethings don't have a square or round base there appears to be a specific design one side curved with no undercut making it mold-able or extrude-able.

Ok after soaking in mineral oil I think all is revealed. Botched craniotomy! It's likely PMD. But all together odd. Abe's teeth even look skeleton like. Well, at one point it was fun.

I wonder if this could be caused from electrical spark? On a struck through wire the line is continuous? Around the date it looks created after the strike?
