Quote:PS: If you do not pay for this item immediately, the coin will be sent to other customers, who have paid for this item. Sometimes, the payment may be clear in the coming hours due to the system update in my city so please do not worry about anything. Since they are being sold by the very promoted price, please do not buy more than 5 pieces by one time. If there is something wrong with the deal, please try to open a case in Paypal, because we will add all the tracking numbers in Paypal. If you open a case on ebay we will not send the item to you. Thanks.

My mind won't let me face the reality that people fall for this. In denial. . . .

Dumbfounded.
I suppose next week he'll have a similar deal on 1893-S's....

It truly is the wild wild west on ebay. One better know what they are doing. Buyer beware. I learned my lesson without paying too great of a price....unfortunately others will pay a big price. I see a new fake coin almost every day on ebay, and I don't think it does any good anymore to report it. Haven't gotten one taken down recently. The best chance to have a listing removed IMO is to appeal to the seller who "might" not know they are listing a fake coin.

Quote: This seller sold 10 others on July 4th under a different seller's name of course. Good detective work. Did you also notice that within that week's time, he's moved from Seattle, WA to Englewood, FL? Bet his real address is someplace in China....

Bet his real address is someplace in China.... Yeah, here's what it says about shipping. I'm sure it always takes 10-25 days to mail a package from Seattle and it always goes airmail. Quote: The item will be shipped to you via Registered Air Mail. Normally, the package needs 10-25 days to arrive at the destination.

Does using 0LD ge.nu.ine in the title clear them from requiring that the coin be old or genuine? This is so obvious that it's a scam, I'm not sure how anyone bid. Just the fact that they mention that they are from the US tells me that they are not. They may have relatives here that do the shipping for them.

While this thread's been developing this morning, somebody gave the seller (under his first moniker, brodla0) a positive feedback, albeit with the cryptic comment, "so,so". So now he's a 100%'er.

It's ebay and PayPal's problem. Evidently, the money they lose on these "deals" is not enough to warrant addressing the "problem" they have created, enabled and allowed to continue.

Quote:It's ebay and PayPal's problem. I disagree. Taking a wider view, it's a problem for everybody in the hobby. All these fakes will be floating around for years to come. If they're good enough, there'll be a chain of victims, many of whom, if they discover they've been defrauded, may well become ex-collectors. I do agree that ebay has become absolutely, even criminally, complicit in these scams.

I find it hard to believe anyone will actually receive a coin at all. I can't say that I've ever seen feedback for one of these scams in the past, well at least positive feedback. I guess my second guess is that the coins are from alibaba & the forty thieves. Heck, a cull is worth more than $88.
