Looks a little "interesting" around the margins of Lady Liberty. Thought? PG

Color does not seem right, but ? There are so many fake Trade dollars, I would stay away. Also, why would a high grade one not be in a TPG holder?

If a real one had that grade and was slabbed, it would easily be worth $1000 or higher. I would stay away too.

There's no reason why it shouldn't be slabbed at this point if genuine. Stay far away.

I tend to agree, to a degree. I contacted the seller and asked the weight. Answer was 27 grams (correct figure). The seller has, in the past, sold some uber high value coins, so it's either a) somebody's grandfather died or b) RUN Forrest!

It looks fishy to me. IF I were buying a MS Trade dollar, I would want it slabbed and IF the seller KNOWS it's authentic and a high grade he would submit it to PCGS to make the big bucks.

I know next to nothing about TDs but the color looks off, and if he has sold several high value coins, wouldnt he have a better description than "mint new"

I don't know for sure whether the trade $ is real or not, but he has several other coins listed that would be much more marketable if they were TPG'd.

Maybe he doesn't have time to get them graded and is trying to raise cash.

If I was in the market for those coins I'd take a chance. I've lost a heck of a lot more playing blackjack in LostVegas in four hours than what I could lose on any of those coins. At least there is some protection on ebay (emphasis on the word "some").

I don't like the 1 and 8 in the date. The ones vertical is shaped like a trapezoid rather than a rectangular pillar. The 8 is tilted and doesn't look fat enough for me. nlp

Well, it does seem to match the 64+ Trade dollar on PCGS Coin Facts. http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinIm....aspx?s=7044 Just sayin.....

With unslabbed BU Trade dollars, no matter how good they look, run. Far away.

Here's where the coin came from:

http://coins.ha.com/itm/trade-dolla.../1206-8691.s

Wonder if the buyer is going to miss that huge "N" scratched on the wing in their excitement?

For the record, I sent that link to the seller via ebay Message.

I certainly would've if you didn't mention it.

I think the seller will likely be making a good profit on this one.

Interesting bit of trivia here.... Location of seller is less than 20 miles from the (in)famous crackout artist "dknies1947" of a year or two ago. Coincidence?

Amazing how the N jumps out at me now that I know it is there, but my eyes missed it when I first looked.
