Hello Coin Cummunity,

I've just cleaned out my grandfather's appartment after he moved out.
I found a coin that says "LIBERT" and "1800" on it, on the back it has an Eagle holding arrows and a branch with leaves on it.
It says "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" I will ofcourse provide pictures.
What I also noticed was that when the eagle is vieuwed and I turn the coin around, the woman is facing downwards, south west to be more precise. I'm very interrested in old coins and I've been saving some from my owncountry. However, I have no knowledge on what makes a coin worth something.
Could you tell me something about this coin and maybe let me know if it's worth anything at all?

Don't mind the different photo upload services. The second photo was larger and it exceeded file size limit on the first website I used.

Thanks in advance!
Kind regards, Peter.

Welcome!
I'm so sorry to tell you, this is a late 20th century forgery of a US dollar from 1800. This same counterfeit has appeared here before:

I wouldn't even consider it a fake, but rather a fantasy piece, perhaps sold to tourists.

If this was authentic it would be a low four figure piece, so it is too bad it turned out to be counterfeit.

These kind of cast counterfeits come from Asia and are swarming the market.

Unseen0 to the CCF!
Unfortunately I must concur with the others; it is a rather obvious Chinese cast counterfeit.
