Sorry about the poor photo, it's taken from an online auction, that says it's a 1914-D Lincoln Cent. From what I can tell I'm suspicious about its authenticity because of the wide spacing between the 9 and 1.

I suspect it's a reworked 1944-D, but am no expert on this. Opinions are most welcome.

Looks like a S mint mark. Position looks wrong and the one and nine are pretty wide like a re-worked 44. With those pics I would stay clear.

Though it's extremely grainy, I think I see what might be a VDB in Lincoln's shoulder, which of course precludes this from being a 1914.

it looks like an altered 1944. too large a space between the 9 and what was the 4 (but now a 1) as stated by others above.

Watch those shady online sellers. Tell us who seller is so we can avoid them.

Thanks for all the responses to my question.

I hope to add a VF 1914-D to my collection later this year. It's been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. I'm saving my money now.

But I want to make sure I get an authentic example.

Even if it was genuine, it would be impossible to authenticate based on that one horrible photo.
