As I had mentioned in my last thread, after a year of faffing about, I was finally able to store my collection in flips and categorise them. And since I thrive so much on attention , I figured I'd share my efforts with you all: 853 coins, collecting recent (oldest is from 1898) coins of every type and mintmark and variation (but not year, except for the Pakistan coins in that album on the left, which I'm trying to collect one of every year for). If you're sharp enough, and you know your country and kraus codes, you should even be able to recognise my entire collection: not worth a lot over face value, but I'm still happy that it is all done, aside from my (not-pictured) exchange coins, and those tokens and commemorative you see there- still have to figure out their place. As for the rest, TO THE SHOEBOX THEY GO! Edited by Babar 07/23/2014 1:38 pm

That looks like one well organized collection! I've tried doing this several times but I always manage to get more coins before I am finished so I know this is quite an accomplishment.

South Africa? Yes! You can kinda see them at the end on the top right corner- a 0.02 ZAR and 0.20 ZAR coin. There's even a ZW (Zimbabwe) behind that that you can't really see. And yeah, allranger, it was quite a hassle . If I had the idea and method set from the start, it might've been easier to do (adding one coin at a time as I received it), but the way I did it was less informed... I stored a few, wrote the countr, KM and year, got more, stored more, got some that had the mintmark written as well, so then I went back and added the mintmarks too. Then some that were important due to variations, so I had to go back through them all to add the variation, and then finally at some point realising I should flatten the staples, so I went through them all, flattening each, all the while still getting new coins to be added.

Babar, considering your home base, this is an amazing collection. Glad you had the time to organize and protect them. I'm sure you read here at CCF on how to keep them pristine or close, Zip Lock bags. On a side note, we loved your rug

Thanks jbuck and bpoc! I just have the flips in rows of 3 in 2 shoeboxes, bpoc. Should I encase the whole thing in a ziplock bag as well? And yeah, I love my rug too! Is great for lying on . PS: I'll keep a lookout, ASE, but wasn't there a huge shortage of that coin because everyone was keeping them instead of spending them?

Impressive world coin collection, Babar! Have you counted them? It seems like you have a few hundred at least. And also, what is the most valuable coin you have in your collection?
