I just came across this thread for the first time. The Canadian type set doesn't look like it would be that difficult (pronounced "Ex - pen - siv") to put together. Most of the large dollars are clad, right? I did a Canadian Penny typeset. Maybe time to expand that...

I think with the exception of the Queen Victoria 20 cent piece both of the Canadian sets are pretty easy (ie inexpensive) to put together. There is a number of silver dollars in both sets like for example George Vi has 5 silver dollars and there is 5 silver dollars for Elizabeth the II as well but no true killers like your Seated Liberty dollars in the 7070.

I agree ... That Dansco should be making/updating their albums.

As for the Canadian type set albums. I agree there are no real killer (cost) coins. A few of the Queen Victoria coins can cost good money .. In the better grades. Some of them I put the Newfoundland coins in, saves on costs.

The second album, Queen Elizabeth II, has a good amount of silver coins.

The dollars - 42 coins - 35 are silver
5 are .6 actual silver weight (ASW)
21 are .375 ASW
8 are .75 ASW

So still can be a little bit of a challenge.

Yea with all the silver dollars it can add up at $20 a pop most likely, the set is still affordable and easy to put together using ebay (my coin shop has zero canadian coins).

I just wish they had a british dansco like these, see what you did to me GR58 you got me all excited for a new set when I should be finishing my other sets (am going to grab a bust half on Monday to take my 7070 down to 12 and when done with that maybe half a dozen upgrades).

Update
Been slowly picking up some Mexican coins for this set.
Have found some of the smaller denomination coins, and
a few gold.

So far been a little harder finding Coins from Mexico
then Canadian coins.

The gold page did come in, so thought I would post some
pictures.

I got a 1907 10 Peso today. (AGW .2411)

The 50 Peso will be much harder with 1.2oz of gold.

I find myself wondering in circa 1907 if coins like this 1907 10 Peso might have traded in the border states.
I know in the past, there have been times coins have been traded across borders. We see that today
with U.S. and Canadian coins.

The 10 Peso coin has almost the same amount of gold as the U.S. Five dollar gold coin.

Any thoughts on that issue?

Does the Canadian Dansco include the Newfoundland coinage? I have quite a bit of the Newfie set.

Nothing is labeled for Newfoundland coins ....but doesn't say you can't either.
I put some Newfoundland coins in mine ... Because I had some ... And like them.

I did add a 2X2 page recently ... to the back of the first Canadian album.
In that page I hope to add three gold coins and some bank tokens.

This would be a great typeset to start, work on, and then finish!

the AGW for the three countries would be several ounces... ouch!

I like out of all the commemorative quarters you could have used you used the first coloured coin to have ever entered circulation! I give those coins to foreign tourists that stop in at the library I work at all the time. Great coin, great story!

Hey, how is the Mexico Type set coming? I have started my own, in a binder with 2x2 pages. Are there any coins you are having a hard time finding? Maybe I can help?

Been going slow on these sets, with silver and gold dropping my focus switched to
ASE's.

I had been watching ebay, but see my best deals will be if those coins I need come into
the local coin shops.

On the Mexico set, of the 73 coins needed, I have 32 and need 41.

I'd pull the poppy 25 cents out of the Canadian album and put in a 1968-2001 pure nickel coin in it. The Poppy 25c is plated steel. Just my humble 2 cents :)

Also surprised the Mexican album does not have the Mexican Republic reales from the 1800's. Those are really nice coins.
