What is the straight line running from the 9:00 position on the reverse through the wheat stalk and the you in UNITED?

Is it a die crack, something on the flange or what?

Thanks for answers in advance.

I think auto-correct got to my original post.

It should read the "U" in "UNITED".

I agree Nice find although I think its more of a scratch on the die as it dosn't penetrate the lettering or wheat stock. IMO

Too straight for a die crack IMHO. Die scratch/gouge.

It also runs behind the wheat stalk. A sure sign it is on outside edge of the die in the fields. If it were a die crack, it would flow over the device. It is a die scratch.

I found a RPM on the obverse on this year.

It is listed on coppercoins.com

The neat thing was, there were only 4 dies running when I got this roll. So I found a lot of extras of this die in the roll. So you might like to see if you have a RPM on the obverse?

I bought a small lot of eight BU 1945-Ds. No repunched mint marks, but in examining them I found that another one has this same die gouge/scratch.

It was probably from an OBW roll. So it was probably from the same die pair.
