Does anyone know about these? How would one know they came from the mint. Is there any record out there of this being done? I know and have seen #5 and #10. Thanks

Good Lord, do you own this coin? Yes, it's from the Denver Mint, and these were hand-engraved there. This one seems to be the 12th Morgan from the Denver Mint.

Somewhere in my collection is an engraved morgan like this. I remember seeing it several years ago. My grandfather got it in a roll of morgans purchased from a contractor. I think it was 7 or 14? I cant remember. My brother emailed me the pic and said "find it" as it could be something big. I plan on spending the weekend looking as I am sure its here. My grandfather never sold coins. He just hoarded. I want to find out what these are but cant find anything except live tokens online

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, this specimen has an "L" over "E" error in the inscription, which accoeding to the article referenced above is something almost to be expected.

I called a huge name in the Coin World in LA to ask his thoughts. He said apparanty 100 were supposed to be engraved but only 10 were confirmed. The first 2 were never engraved. All but three have been accounted for. I hope I have one of those three. He also said all of them have spelling errors. I cant imagine someone from the united states mint hiring a dummy to do the engraving. Actually, the world is full of dummies so I take that back. What would have been different in 1923 then now? Anyway, he dosent know value but said to expect 4 figures. I'm shocked its not more being it is rare and, what I feel, I piece of us coin history

Dollars #3 and #9 have transacted at Heritage this year. #3, an NGC MS61, hammered at $13.5k. #9, in an ungraded PCGS Regency holder, went for $11.8k. Your coin will be in that neighborhood.

Thats not 4 figures lol. Either way when I find it I am surely not going to sell it. Although I may sell other coins, Morgan's will always stay in my collection. And all proof coins. That seems to be the only areas of interest for me

I'm continually floored by the collection you inherited. Now respond to my text from yesterday. :)

I think it was 7 or 14? According to the article, #7 is presently unaccounted for. You have a chance to make a little numismatic history if you can find it. I know we'd all like to see some pictures of it if you do.
