Some Die Cracks are unusual. I haven't seen this before on a LSC...

Looks like a die scratch since it goes over the lettering.

Looks like a crack to me. A die scratch or gouge would go under the lettering and would be a straight line.

This die is about to mint it's last coin. It is about to completely break in half. Very nice example of a terminal state die. A die scratch would NOT go over the devices becase on the die the fields are the highest point of relief. This means a scratch would have to travel down into the valleys of the devices, plus on this coin you can start to see areas where it is blobbing. These are areas of the crack that the metal has flown into tryying to fill the void created by the crack. I bet it would fetch $5-$10 on ebay.

This is a die crack not a die scratch. Its definitely an odd area for it that's for sure. Neat find.

This die crack is far from terminal and is not that large, even when compared to modern coinage. It is an interesting piece, though.

Note the die flow lines in the field above and below the LIBERTY. That shows me that this die has some age on it.

Does the thinner right arm of the "Y" indicate an older die state? (Die wear?)

I was gonna ask if the Y show doubling? But I think there would be notches if it was Doubled in that direction.

It is a 2014-P. Here is a closer look at the "Y":

Actually no. Die wear shows toward the closest rim. So the date would show die wear/deterioration on the right side of the devices. On LIBERTY it would be on the left side of the devices. On the motto it is on the tops of the devices. But the thin arm on the "Y" is part of the design for that series. On the DDO for that year it shows a thicker "Y".

Here is a Side by side of the normal LIBERTY on the 2012 with the doubled die for that year.
