Poll Question
If you received a roll of coins in their original US Mint wrapper (any denomination, any year) would you:

Poll Choices
 Un-wrap and look for goodies!!!
Leave wrapped "as is" for originality -investment purposes
Un-wrap and place coins in a protective tube to help prevent toning
Leave wrapped and place in a protective tube

If I got a box of OBW rolls, I would open maybe 5 rolls. That would give me an idea of what could be in box. (Part of run from that day is probably what you would expect to find.) Then you could save some, (I save a box from each year I can get.) If there is nothing of real value in them, then I might return them or open all to see if there are any errors in that box. If you save rolls from the same year you might want to label the ones you keep. Such as 2014-D "A". If you save more, then label them as "B" and so on. The reason to make them is that maybe later you might find something later that you missed or something new may have come into play. I've had some that sent me a roll and see if they missed something. I report back what I noticed and if I find something, I report back and I keep what I do find. I've had a few that appreciated that finding. I've found Trail dies and some doubled die and RPMs from different rolls. Marking them "A, B, C" will help them go back to the correct box and find what I found.

I open them take out errors and variety check for fb dime or fs nickel the rest put in plastic rolls to sell off/trade as bu rolls.

some things I wont open

On rare occasions they are not worth cracking open like today I got two full bu rolls of State Quarters a 2003 Arkansas & 1999 Georgia from the bank , I wont open them but I am still tempted to check them

Talking just U.S. Mint wrapped rolls. Most cases I would leave in rolls and put in coin tube.

But for me it would depend on the roll. If it was a roll of 2004 D Wisconsin quarters, I would
open them and look for high and low leaf.

If it was a roll of Illinois quarters, I would leave in roll and hold for years.
Illinois has a high greysheet roll price.

2009 Lincoln Cent rolls I leave in rolls ... Same for westward journey nickels.

Again this is only for mint wrapped rolls, bank wrapped rolls most of the time
I open them, sort them and only keep the high grade coins.
