The only complete sets I have are the kennedy, franklins, and Roosevelt dimes. I'm only 2 shy of a Murcery set and 4 shy of a wheat set. Ty

I've completed 3: 1) Eisenhower dollars (Dansco) 2) The Flying Eagle cent part (3 coins - no 1856) of the IHC Dansco book. That's considered a complete set, right? :) 3) Washington quarter 1932-1998. 1941S-present is BU, and I'm slowly upgrading the 1932-1941D to BU as well. I'm just 2 each away from completing my Franklin half & Lincoln Cents (09SVDB & 1922Plain :( sets though.

I've got these done in BU (I think): Jeffersons Roosevelts Ikes Sacagaweas State QuartersI think I'm around 10 coins away from a Mercury dime set, but I've put that project on hold indefinately. I had a complete set of Franklins, but sold it to buy my 1801 half dollar. And...I'm only 432 varieties away from a complete set of bust half dollars by die variety!

Congrats on your accomplishment! I have only finished 3 date sets in my short time: 1st Morgan complete date and Mint in VG to F+ in approx 3 yrs. 2nd capped bust half dollar Dime date set AU45-AU63 in approx 2 yrs. 3rd Recently finished Capped Bust dime date set G+ to VF in approx 4 yrs concurrent with H10c set. Currently working on Flowing Hair H10c LDS, Flowing Hair 50c LDS, and Draped Bust 25c sets by variety and the perpetual hunt for any and all capped bust overdates in all denominations. In my opinion you can "complete" a set and continue to upgrade but, when a set is "finished" one stops the pursuit of upgrades or varieties for the set. I have found that the completion of a set is anticlimactic and somewhat disappointing....I am in it for the thrill of the hunt.

fengk--if you were looking for the project of a lifetime you've found it. Let me know when you find an 1829 O-120 or an 1832 O-123.

Great move fengk. Now you need to dump the rest of your moderns and get yourself and 1802 50c....that would be quite a pair!

Benji- If I do manage to find the right 1802, then I'd have no trouble selling everything in my collection that's not a bust half to buy it. Problem is, 1802's are mostly found in VF and above grades, and those coins cost around $3000. Somehow, I don't think that a bunch of moderns are going to be worth anywhere near $3000.
HABIB- I figure that since I'm 15 now, I've got all the time in the world to complete that set. Of course, it'll probably never be completed, but that doesn't mean I can't try. After all, only 1 person has completed that set. Right now, inclusion in the BHNC is a mini-goal.

"Right now, inclusion in the BHNC is a mini-goal." I have always been amazed at those who are BHNCers...Perhaps I am easily impressed? "If I do manage to find the right 1802" Here, is this one good enough? http://cgi.ebay.com/1802-Draped-Bus...NR_W0QQitemZ250156822647QQihZ015QQcategoryZ11969QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That's a bargain! The last 1802 offered was an AU58 $47,000

I'm really amazed at BHNC guys too. Most of them have these amazing collections, with an XF/AU MINIMUM. When you're going after R6's, that level of quality is amazing. Apparently, you need to be voted on for inclusion, so just getting 100 varieties isn't enough.
I spent a couple of hours at a BHNCer's table today at a show...and wow! There were several other BHNC guys there too, and they are just dripping with information. Those guys have so much knowledge and are also very eager to share it. Unfortunately, I was broke, so I couldn't buy their duplicates.
And...I saw that 1802 the night it was listed. It was around $19,000 more than I plan on spending. I could have tapped into my college fund, but my parents wouldn't have been so pleased...

I have yet to complete a set, but I'm just starting. I think I'm going to be able to complete a 1950-1964 lincoln proof set though very soon. The Shield nickels, 3CN, and Jefferson nickels might take a bit longer, lol.

What coin sets have you completed in your U.S. currency career? Usually currency refers to that paper type stuff. I've got 97 Whitman Classic Albums and basically most are complete. Naturally there are a few odd ball coins still not there. For example in 5 Indian Head cents there is no 1856 at all. All 9 Mercury dimes are complete and same with many others. However, it is difficult to say a modern set is complete like Roosevelt dimes since they keep making new ones each year.

Is a coin set ever really complete?
For me it's only done when it's gone or I am...

U.S. issued Mint Sets 20th Century Type Set
This question always makes me feel like I have ADD as I have 7 other sets in various states of disarray. My wife has finally given up asking when they'll be done.
