Yeah, ugly holder, IMO. Considering they are charging you $100 for $25 worth of silver, they could at least dress it up nice.

I though the price was a bit high too. Considering that a quarter silver proof set is $32 with $1.25 FV, this should be around $51. Guess it doesn't work that way.
For the extra $49, you'd think they could do a nice wooden case like the gold issue.

As I said before, it does not look fancy. I think it looks retro. It has actually grown on me.

I don't like it at all. It looks a little cheap. For $100, you would think they could make it a little nicer than that.

Unlike the Coin and Chronicles sets, this may be a time where you are only buying the coins and not the presentation. So you have to ask if these coins worth $100 to you.
I like the presentation, but I do not love it (yet). That may change when I get one in hand. Regardless, unlike the annual proof sets, I doubt I will crack it. At least not immediately, so it remains to be seen whether or not these coins make it into the Dansco album.

The first thing I thought when I saw it was they went for a retro look. I rather like it.
And again, as I said repeatedly in response to the same kind of comments about the gold coin. Do you really expect to pay the value of 2 ounces of silver for 4 unique coins that likely will not be made again? Really? That is so unrealistic it isn't even funny.

I think the packaging will be just fine. True, I would have prefered a wooden case.
The price, on the other hand... I think they need to adjust it based on the current price of silver.

My guess is that the bulk of these coins were minted back when silver was still $20+ an ounce, hence you wont see a downward adjustment at release time. Think there would be potential for an aftermarket wooden display case like the recent ASEs?

I'm going to put these in the Dansco album, so the packaging means little to me.

The price is unreasonable. Shops will buy the set & break 'em up. I'm gonna hold off & buy the only coin I care for out of the set in the secondary market.

The packaging is like an ugly dog... I can't stop looking at it. And the more I look at it the better I like it.
However, I love the wooden box the gold coin comes in.

Gotta love all the box haters...geez. I love the retro look of the faux leather. Right out of the 60's. Way to go Mint, you did good.
