I've never been one to break up sets like this and have the coins separately graded or anything, however, so I do appreciate some nice high-quality packaging and really don't care for this. It may be silly, but having nice hardwood boxes makes it somehow easier to justify paying such a high premium.... The fact that they are silver is simply an added bonus. These are not run of the mill "bullion" ASEs. They are special issue coins. Unique. If you are so worried about having something tied right to the price of silver, APMEX has plenty of offerings for that. I looked at it again and I really do like the retro look to it. The cases for the ASEs are actually plastic, and that would have been nice I guess, but these work. The wooden case like for the gold coin would add even more to the cost. That is, the set is not overpriced. I have a tight budget and I will be buying this set. (And yes, every time I look at the photos I like the package more and more.)
