wish I could've seen the items.. and with my computer and the pics I mine as well be buying sight unseen.. but not such big items... I'm glad I now get to fill in two major holes I didn't think I ever would out of my 50 cent album... So I'm a bit happy!

Looks like continuing weakness in the Canadian decimal market to me !

There were several overgraded ICCS small cents there. The fact the 1938 MS66 cents and the 1943 MS66 cent went for apparently low values should not be interpreted as a sign of anything. They were stupidly overgraded. By that grading standard I think I have some MS70 George VI cents.

Smallcentguy: I was shocked to see some of the prices.... I believe there was a lot that included 6 MS graded one being a '35 graded 65... the entire lot sold for around $300... and that's just one example that sticks out as a shocker... I would've thought it was going to go for a lot more..

i only watched some lots. I found one cataloguing error today when I reviewed the lots on site. You can't trust the description unless you look at the lots.

It is simple economics .............too little cash chasing too many coins equals low prices. I still maintain that Canadian Coin auctions are NOT a good place to sell coins. Too small an audience ! The prices you can NET , selling on ebay are more often a better way to go. Personally I will NEVER again put coins in a Canadian based auction firms sale. Burned too many times ! On the other hand if you are careful.......... a great place to buy new stock!!

Smallcentguy says that he feels from what some ICCS grades now show ,..he has some MS 70's.. Well I feel that I might have some MS 73's now.. Where is asyn when you need them.. .. or maybe ICCS has been drawn towards the "dark side"...of the force...

I had a good night at the Bell auction last night, scoring 20+ lots. I too was shocked at many of the prices (including many of the ones I won), and by the number of lots that didn't receive a bid at all. But there were also a small handful of strange bidding wars happening from online bidders that raised some eyebrows in on the floor. One thing is for sure: the market has definitely changed.
