Ok so far I have found 2 proof DDO pennies, wich I guess would not make them proofs anymore? 1 of them still has a little bit of the matte finish left on lincoln, and has some dammage from circulation like normal circulated pennies. (1970S-1DO-002P)...... The other looks like a normal business strike but has the markers and doubling as the Wexlers 1971 S Pr WDDO-004? Does that make it a new variety or a worthless proof DDO? Not sure how to value these things. Any thoughts?

Pics are needed. Grading is a big part of it.

they are still proof coins. a proof coin is always a proof coin. the term I have heard is "imapred proof" after they have been in circulation. I have found 1 proof nickel that I would grade in about proof 45 condition. a for worthless as a DDO even after they have been in circulation - I suspect there must be some premium value. im certain I have seen proof varieties, liste on coppercoins site, with a range of values. I dont recall if the valuse list lower grade proof though.

Most proof coin can be purchased for a low price, Check any coin store. There is not a shortage of these loose one out there. It would probably not be worth trying to figure out how much an impaired one would be worth. Just be glad you found one.

On "IN", on the bottom of the I shows machine damage on that device. If it were hub doubling, there would only be one side affected. I checked a publication I have and the last doubled die listed was 1981-S in this listing. (But new ones are found after a publication comes out.) But because this is a proof coin, it is struck twice and that may have caused what we are seeing on the devices. Sorry

I disagree Coop, the IN appears o be a DD to me. You WILL have the doubling on both sides like that if the direction of the shifting is roughly in the same direction as the long axis of the I. You have one set of serifs above the other with notching on both of them.

How about the "B" on LIBERTY. The notches are in two directions like the "I" on IN. If it were a hub doubling, there should only be notching one direction and the devices would also be wider/taller. I'm not seeing hub doubling on this coin.
