Just wondering if anyone knows the story on this coin as I have not seem another even in the far reaches of the web. I have been told in 1893 Carson City stopped production. Any info is appreciated.

First off, welcome.

Clearly a "fantasy" fake.

100%

Interesting fantasy though as these had a possibility of being made. In 1900 leftover CC reverse dies were sent to New Orleans to be used. Giving us multiple O over CC varieties.

Sorry we had to give you the bad news. Did you buy this coin or find/inherit it?

Welcome to the CCF. While there's some sadness to this event, there's enlightenment to be had. Hopefully, the lesson wasn't too expensive. Sometimes, instead of Carson City, a CC mintmark stands for Chinese Counterfeit.

There is a variety of Morgan dollar that can be cherry-picked, if you're lucky. It's a 1900-O/CC mintmark. Keep your eyes open for that one! Happy hunting ...
