I have been thinking lately that there might be some interest having a thread/post where everyone could show their progress on Dansco albums. I know I would like to see some of the older classic series albums (the ones I don't have) to see if maybe I would like to do them. Most of my sets are 20th century and up. I would not want to be the only one posting, so I am asking if there is any interest in something like this. Would not have to show each individual coin, just enough detail to see what is needed for each album. Of course close ups of any coins would be great. My thoughts are each day a different denomination. But open to suggestions. Something like Day one - U.S. cents (large, Indian head and Lincoln) Day two - U.S. Five cents (half dime, Shield, liberty head, Buffalo and Jefferson) Day three U.S. Ten cents (Capped bust, Seated, barber, Mercury and Roosevelt) After the Dollars .. could do Half Cent, Two Cent, Three Cent and Twenty Cent. The a day for type sets. and another day for foreign coin dansco's .... So what do others think?

Something along these lines has been done several times in the past, with the most recent ending a few months ago. https://goccf.com/t/177472&whichpage=1However, lets see what Moe145 has to say (he's the "days of" guy); he might let you go ahead with such a thread, but that is up to him. I'm in favor, although I personally don't have a Dansco to show off.

I like it. First of all, the difference is this will be days for albums as entities, not the days for each individual coin in those albums. Second, Moe has already blessed the "Days of" franchise threads. Some examples are here, here, and here.

You are right Jbuck ...not talking about taking a picture of every coin ..more to show the albums. Not like the link rollsearcher posted of Moe's 7070 thread .....nice thread .... But not what I am talking about. I have never seen the Three Cent nickel/two cent album ... Or the large cent album ... I would like to see those ... There are a few of us that have a lot of Dansco .. Like smokeriderdon ... I feel some might be inspired if they see some of the Dansco's they don't have I have been on CCF since 2009 ... Most everyday ...I am pretty sure if there was a post like I am talking about I would have seen it A few years ago there was a post your Dansco album thread ... That was before "Day of threads" .... Moe ...posts mostly in the classic section .... But if he wanted to head this up ....I have no problem with that .... Not even sure if he is a Dansco guy.

I would post my 7070 on this thread! ... Mostly because I like the idea of posting whole pages at-a-time rather than having to photograph every coin separately front and back. Does that mean I don't love my collection enough? The only other Dansco I have is an older Jefferson nickel filled through about 1990, so I would only be able to contribute on two different days ...

I would love to see that thread. I couldn't post much, but I could post my 7070. (copyright 1965)

Perfect idea! Start it at the lowest denomination They do. One day for 1/2 cent (if they do an album for that). Next large pennys. Next day FE/IHP. Just walk it on up until you hit the dollar albums. One day for each major currency division/type. We dont want one day and every 1/2 dollar album gets posted. Make the last day the ASE album. And simply post a pic of each page. If there is something stellar, a few individual pics. Thats how I am picturing it.

Don ... thanks for jumping in. Good idea to break it out further. I am thinking if we break it down to far, there will be days with nothing posted. But with out breaking it down for some series/denomination a day could get a little crazy. Then there is a issue with Two, Three and Twenty Cent coin albums, they are mixed denomination albums. I am really thinking might have to put a group together of some of the early series because there are so few people putting them together ..

One of the days would be the short series day. All the odd ball short series books that day. Perhaps break it down to types for the earlier stuff. A Seated day. A bust day. A Barber day. Then break it down to denomination after that.

How about all albums instead of Dansco. That will open up more possibilities. Otherwise, I really like the idea.

TC971793 is right. We must include all albums, Not just Dansco.

I am on the fence on the idea of other albums, not just Dansco.
I do understand how everyone likes to show their collection.
But .. I was thinking of a post just to show the different types of Dansco albums, old an new ....
What are some of the other Dansco user thoughts on this issue.
I am trying to come up with a schedule for all the Dansco ....so that we would have A good coverage each day.

Basically most on this forum are Dansco people. However, in many other places it's Whitman or Litleton or many others. So why not include everyone?

I think you should assign each Dansco album number a day. You could go lowest to highest: 6108 (2c Pieces & Nickel 3c Pieces) 6109 (3c Silver Pieces & 20c Pieces) 7098 ( Half Cents 1793 - 1857) 7099 (Large Cents 1793 - 1857) 7100 and 8100 (Lincoln Cents 1909 to 2009, regular and proof included) 7101 ( Indian Head cents 1857 - 1909) ... Or, you could order them by denomination, chronologically: 7098 ( Half Cents 1793 - 1857) 7099 (Large Cents 1793 - 1857) 7101 ( Indian Head cents 1857 - 1909) 7100 and 8100 (Lincoln Cents 1909 to 2009, regular and proof included) 6108 (2c Pieces & Nickel 3c Pieces) 6109 (3c Silver Pieces & 20c Pieces) ... Anyway, just my thoughts. Matt
