I stumbled across a cent that has no mint mark and I cannot make you the last digit of the year. It definitely says 194-something. The last digit looks "smashed". The last digit blob does however extend down below the bottom of the 4 next to it. I tried to pick it up with a magnet and could not. Not even a strong rare earth magnet. I do not really collect coins. I usually just find one randomly and "Google" it. This is my first post here. I apologize but I have nothing to take a good "close up" of it. Just an iPhone.
Mike from South Carolina

Edit: The blob is very isolated and makes me think it happened at the mint. Or it is a fake of some sort.

, das.

With the correct lighting you can do a passable job with an iPhone; give it a shot.

it looks like a 1941 with a damaged and worn second "1", with coin roler damage. that is the circular mark in fron of "ABE". that might also be the cause of the damaged "1"

In Liberty looks like it spells Libfrty.
What you have is called PMD or Post Mint Damage.

What if that blob is supposed to be a 3. If it is. Wouldn't that make it pretty rare and relatively valuable despite the damage?

Looks definitely like a 1941 with PMD.
Not a 1943 unfortunately.

Thank you all for the application of your experience and for the enlightenment. I, my 2 siblings, and my 2 cousins Each have a bag of rolled coins consisting of 1 roll of quarters, 2 rolls each of Mercury dimes, Buffalo nickels, and wheat cents that my Grandmother saved in the 50s and 60s. I really need to go through them and make sure one of us isn't sitting on something great. Thank yall for a some motivation as well!
