Quote: Is the 1974 d dime worth sending in for grading ? No. It is a common enough error, and the condition is less than perfect.

The article is somewhat misleading. The coin was found in 1947.

When I saw the headline I thought that this was a recent event, not something that happened 70 years ago. The real news is that it is going to be sold at an auction and the question is what is it worth?

Got this in change at lunch today. Not the prettiest thing, but still fun to find.

I do not find wheat cents often and when I do they always seem to be from the 1950s. This one is nearly 80 years old and looks like it got kicked around most of that time. If it had been a year older I probably would have put in its own topic.

Let's see...today in my till at work I found 1944-P War Nickel, a customer paid with some change and one of them was a 1964 quarter. Last week in my till I got a 1919-S wheatie. I think I did good.

I got a 1935 quarter from a local convenience store this morning; the guy in front of me was buying coffee and his 2 cups were $3.50 and he paid with a $10 and 50 cents, and that's when I heard the ring. Based on how he was dressed and the fact he wasn't paying entirely in change I'm willing to bet he had no clue the quarter was silver but either way I'm glad I got one for face value even though I had to beg and negotiate with the cashier since she also collects stuff like that!
