There is a lot of weakness in the letters on both the obverse and reverse and also part of the date. Looking under the nose you can see what may be part of the design from the reverse. On the reverse, the design that holds most of its detail is where I believe the face of Roosevelt would be. Holding the coin in hand it looks as though I can see a outline of it. The design is blurred from the tip of the torch circling ccw to the left side of the branch down to the E and P of "E PLURIBUS" and across "ONE" but then starts to clear up at the D of "DIME" and again starts to blur when reaching the CA of "AMERICA" The reverse picture I have is a little blurry but it was the best I could get. Aside from the weak lettering and the possible outline of the face I don't see much to go off of for it to be a die clash. Hopefully the pictures are good enough to get some comments and if not I will try to take it out of the 2x2 to get better ones.

Looks like a partial filled Struck Through Grease error. Here is a clash overlay:

I see it as a weak strike OR struck with late state dies.
And I see the toning caused by it being poorly stored.

I agree with above possible causes mentioned above, but a rookies observation likes to rule out other things.

Check the thickness. If its thinner than normal, you may want to weigh it, check that its close to 2.5 grams.

The partial double sided rim weakness combined with the devise weakness may result from a weak strike or also rolled thin blank (aka) under weight planchet.

Also double check the edge reeding all the way around for weakness may be another indicator of above mentioned.

If the thickness and diameter seem normal and all checks well then a double sided Greaser it seems to be.

Lastly the toning is weird looking as well. My monitor makes it look like a very dull substance (like spray paint?) may be present. If so acetone may remove. If its just toned don't bother as it probably will not remove that.

Thanks, Doug.

Thanks coop for the overlay, as always the pictures and information you provide are helpful. What I thought to be the outline of Roosevelt's face doesn't line up with what the overlay shows. It is very close but not close enough to be right. I was thinking it may be a grease error but was hoping it wasn't and thought it to be unique how it looked. I got the dime for cheap at my LCS and figures I had nothing to loose

@Halo - The dime isn't thin and it has full reeding all the way around. I don't have a scale so weighing it isn't possible at this time.

As for the toning... well there is none. What you see is on the 2x2 and the dime is white as snow with lots of luster. My poor quality pictures don't show that very well. It was hard to get a good shot without light reflection.

The white balance on the images is tilted a bit yellow - you can see it in the color of the 2x2. It should be a blast white coin.
