My grandparents left me a coin - 1795 silver dollar (see the pictures). I do not know if it was genuine or fake and what may have cost. Thanks for the advice on how to proceed in assessing the quality of a present value. I'm not a coin collector, I would like to sell. Sorry for my English

I am sorry to inform you but this is most definitely a fake. These coins can be purchased online for a few dollars. Here at the Coin Community we lament the fact that these coins are sold to unsuspecting collectors but there is little we can do but complain. Probably not what you wanted to hear but you did the right thing contacting us.

Thank you for the quick reply, but the links are sent to another coin: Flowing Hair Dollar. My coin is probably "Draped Bust Dollar - Off Center Bust (B-14)" by the reference of another e-bay sellers. Please confirm me my conviction.

The coin you pictured is not Genuine. It's a Chinese fake. If the ebay sellers are selling coins like this, they are in violation of ebay policies.

For me it is a big disappointment, coin has been in the family for generations. Can be dated when counterfeits produced in China?

This coin was most certainly made in the last 5 years. Sorry, again.

Unfortunately, the OP's coin is a certain counterfeit, the rim, the date and the surfaces are way off.

About 5 years? - this is absolutely impossible, coins were owned by my grandfather, who had it ever get in the WWII. I do not dispute the authenticity of the coin - I'm not an expert, but rather from me wonder what times in fact coin comes. Five years (or decade) not possible.

Yes, a modern fake that likely has no silver content, or but a trace. Sorry for the disappointment you likely experience with such a find. Sadly, such finds often deter would be collectors from getting into this great hobby.

Im getting sicker and sicker of stuff like this, it doesn't make sense to be a fake because it has been in the family for generations but its fake so how can this be. Its just weird because I see that kind of thing often. Maybe its an old fake they somehow picked up decades ago. Its stuff like this about fake collectible coins that just stirs me up.

Counterfeiting has been around as long as coinage has been around, sadly.

It could have been made more than five years ago but almost certainly less than ten. The counterfeit hub the die was made from didn't show up before then.

First off.... We're glad you came here for some advice. Unfortunately, your coin is a fake. Here is a photo of a real 1795 Draped Bust Dollar that has been graded and authenticated by a professional grading service (PCGS). Below that is the photo of your coin for comparison. When you start comparing the two coins closely, you will notice a lot of things do not match up on your coin. Sorry....
