Saw the Coin World online edition yesterday and there was a story about there being gold commemoratives for the 100th anniversary of the real ease of the Mercury dime, Standing Liberty quarter, and Walking Liberty half. Would be reproduced in the original sizes. Only changes besides the metal would be the date and somewhere there would have to be a statement as to the metal content and purity. Any thoughts?

That sounds like what they did for the Kennedy half dollar 50th anniversary. Interesting.

I think they missed the boat. They should have had a 100th anniversary Pan-Pacific set. Just think what they could have charged for that. Maybe there's still enough time to get it done this year....but I don't think so.

I agree!

(Not that I would be able to get one).

Yes, there is still time for it. The year has just begun.

A centennial anniversary commemorative set was proposed in 2013 for the Pan-Pac Exposition - it didn't go very far, however.

It would have included modern replicas of each of the original five coins, with the $50 gold coins being re-issued as $5 gold coins of the standard weight (8.359 grams) [i.e., much smaller than the 1915 $50 pieces].

As the two allowed commemorative programs are set for 2015 (Marshals Service and March of Dimes), it seems very unlikely that a modern Pan-Pac set will be issued.

Haven't heard much about these coins since news of them first broke in August/September 2014. (But maybe I've missed something more recent!)

I'm not much for issuing coins to mark anniversaries of other coins, so they would not hold much interest for me. I know many collectors have a different view, however, so if they are produced next year they will likely be very popular.

I might be interested, but I doubt I could budget for them.

I would rather get the 2015 C&C sets, since I am happy with both Roosevelt sets.
