The following is a release from the US Mint

The United States Mint will offer bags and rolls of 2015 Kennedy half dollars starting on Feb. 12 at noon Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Available product options and their prices are as follows:

Kennedy-Half-Dollar-Product-Options-Available-On-Feb.-12

All product options contain circulating finish Kennedy half dollars from the bureau's facilities at Denver and Philadelphia that have never been placed into circulation. Each coin roll is wrapped in a United States Mint paper coin wrap that displays a "P" or "D" for its mint of origin and "$10" for its face value. Each bag is marked with a "P" and "D" for the mints of origin and "$100" for the face value of its contents.

Beginning this year, Kennedy half dollars in all numismatic products will feature the 1964 Gilroy Roberts image of President Kennedy. The obverse (heads side) has a strong but simple portrait of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The reverse (tails side) design is based on the presidential seal and consists of a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast holding a symbolic olive branch and a bundle of 13 arrows. A ring of 50 stars surrounds the design with the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR."

Orders will be accepted at the United States Mint's online catalog at http://catalog.usmint.gov/, while hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468). Please visit the United States Mint website for more information on shipping options: catalog.usmint.gov/customer-service/shipping.html

Kennedy half dollar bags and rolls may also be purchased through the bureau's Product Enrollment Program. For additional information about this convenient ordering method, please review the FAQs at http://catalog.usmint.gov/customer-service/faqs/

I'll be getting the 2 roll set. I get just one, every year.
It's nice they'll finally be going back to the higher relief
obverse. Won't help me much though, as I don't open my rolls.
I'll have to wait for the unc sets to see what they look like.

I will most likely purchase the 200 coin bags from now on. The return of the original high relief design is what I was hoping for. Good move by the U.S. Mint.

Do you worry about the coins being loose and banging against each other?
I know the rolled coins were loose before being rolled, but it seems like
the contacting between coins would be ongoing in a bag. How does the mint
mail the bags out? Are they wrapped tight so they aren't banging around?

No, I don't worry about this. I care about condition to a certain extent, but bag marks are inherent in this type of product offering. I have never bought a bag of coins from the mint, but I would imagine that they are packed tight in the box and won't move around much, if at all. Maybe someone with experience buying Kennedy half bags can chime in. I'm curious about this too.

At $139.95 plus shipping the price for each coin comes out to ~ 73 cents per coin- not too bad if you ask me, especially considering that these will have the original high relief design. I suspect that orders for this product will increase starting this year.

Coin dealers buy bags and sell them individually. They have to make enough off the good ones to make a profit. I can get them for about a dollar each at coin shows. This tells me they are not from rolls and that most of them come out okay.

Being copper-nickel clad they are a little less susceptible to severe bag marks as the 90% and 40% issues were. Finding a gem MS-66 or higher in the bags still will not be easy.

Buying in the bags certainly does cut down the price per coin.
