Picked this up recently, my 1st CC Dollar. Looks like something is going on with the date (die crack?) Thoughts?

Looks like this coin is in a GSA holder and as far as I know the GSA coins are about as original as you can get. They were packaged directly from mint bags for sale to mail order customers. So, there was virtually no opportunity for anyone to "improve" them.

This piece looks nice and frosty to me, with clean fields. The contact marks on the face limit the grade, probably to MS-63. The prominent die crack under the date adds to the overall appeal IMO.

I agree on 63.
Is it in a CC "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" or a "Silver Dollar" holder?

I looked into the die cracks, and you have a VAM-2 or VAM-3 on VAMworld. Nice Morgan, and I also give it a 63

Unfortunately I can't say. This guy is scheduled for an appearance on GTP. I don't wanna spoil the fun.

I believe it's a VAM2 LDS. MS63 looks about right to me.

I concur with MS63 maybe even a + grade on it as I suspect the washed out or dipped look is just due to the lighting in the photo, looks to be in a GSA holder, and hence was not messed with since it came out of the original bag it was stored in by the government.

VAM-2, You guys nailed it! Markers are spot-on. Even has the crack on the reverse between the star & United.

Thanks CoinCollector2000 & dave700x for attribution. Shout out to edweather for spotting the reverse cracks before I did.
