Was watching (and trying to buy) some lots in the Langdon collection...
The tokens lots went for 2 and 3 x the estimate... crazy..
So was there just that kind of excitement there... or were the estimates too low?
Your opinions?

Not even going to start trying to figure out what is going on until tomorrow...
Had to completely readjust my strategy...

I'm going to blame pacificoin for falling asleep with his paddle up in the air...
I'm certainly put off to say the least... was hoping to pick up some lots of tokens.. nope nadda
Ohh perhaps some classic U.S. coin lots.. NEWP!! just shot down at different things I thought would be interesting..
I was interested in the "Winnipeg tokens" but since there was no pictures I really had no clue what was in the lots and just passed...

It would seem that someone from Winnipeg really wanted them all..
The next few hours should be very interesting if the prices keep clicking away as the last ones have.. The auctioneers are getting rich tonight..

Well that's just it!
So someone from Winnipeg bought all the winnipeg tokens... but here's the rub... MOST items have gone for above estimate.... now from most of the auctions I've ever seen .. the auctioneer has usually estimated a touch high...
So are these estimates in accordance ..or what?
As for those winnipeg lots.. a couple of them were estimated for $700 approx... and he/she took 'em for less than $200... so that was a good deal if the estimates are legit...
I on the other hand couldn't find any info at all on those winnipeg tokens and didn't feel I wanted to take a flyer.. on 'em

I can't believe how long the auction is taking. They will be lucky to be finished by 3am. Might be some good deals for someone who can stay up to the end!

There is a live lead at http://www.icollector.com for anyone who wants to follow along. Better get a cup of coffee before you settle in to watch and maybe a sleeping bag.

Yeah this one will be a late night for sure! I'm hoping that a couple of my bids at the end of this auction hold... just for that reason that everyone has already fallen asleep...
I think the yanky strong dollar may have an influence to who's buying and how much they're willing to pay really...
All I know is I've ditched the coffee for rum... my internet connection seems screwed as my "live bids" with this platform don't even happen... there's a delay on the start of every new lot.... so I have just gone back to the lots I like.. prebid my personal max and let the chips fall....
Still in absolute awe with what some of the items are going for... just in awe.... and also wondering if anyone's leaving anything for tomorrow.... geeze!

Many of the lots are still selling on the floor..and some of our US friends did come up to be part of this .....and are now gobbling them up..
Quite the show..$$!$$..as we expected..

Seems to me like people really want their coins. I tried bidding with a trend price in mind considering the 21% premium and 13 (tax). I even pushed higher than that and people were just blowing bids by me like it was nothing. Oh well....
Glad to have been a part of it even if I didn't come up with anything :)

Sure was a fun auction! Lots of old coin pals and it sure was packed. Got back to my hotel well after 4 am. I will say one thing it was go big or go home . The prices may seem on the high side, but this was quality material new to the coin market. I am pleased to say I was a part of it and was glad to get what I did!

Pacific: I'll be there around 1 or 2. You can catch me in the pub visiting with Rob Turner (we were in the service together) and I'll have on red/orange flannel.

I must have fallen asleep at my computer! I vaguely remember the Large cents ending...
Absolutely wild to watch, I can only imagine what it was like in person!
Unfortunately, only ended up winning two lots...

Quite a few of the large cents went for 50% of trends.
Granted, a few of the very top grades went high as this is expected in any type of market.
US went high for many reasons....1)US buyers got an edge because of the dollar.2) stronger coin market in the US. 3) great selection of highly sought after type material4) some items undergraded and 5) some of the coins were 'crack-out' candidates waiting for a major score from the buyer

I enjoyed what I could watch and was thoroughly impressed by most of the prices - even if it meant I was constantly outbid. Being an hour or more later for me than most of you, I had to go to bed long before it was completed though.
