Finally picked up this variety for a decent price. It looked like a fairly nice coin on ebay, but I wasn't sure about the color/spots.

Are these spots acceptable? When do they become a problem?

These are the best I could do with photos.

I have one that's almost in the same exact condition. I love this variety and I wouldn't worry too much about the spots. It is what it is...enjoy.

For such a hard to acquire variety the spots wouldn't bother me too much. Cool eye gouge!

Looks low end MS. I agree about the spots. Don't think they detract from the eye appeal

Updating an old thread. I used some Verdi-care on this coin and it helped a lot with the spots. Submitted to PCGS and this is how it came back:
