The rough surface on the plating make it hard to tell what is going on, but it looks like it came from a normal die. The planchet is more at fault. There was a period of time where they discovered that the rinsing of the zinc before plating was an issue. After they fixed it, it has been less of a problem.

so it that what caused the extra letters ? well I can make out the T but the others are there just can't make them all out like I can that T..

I see what you are referring to (To the left of the T in Trust?) and it resembles a "T" but it is not a doubling of the T...It is part of the plating issue IMO

I spotted that T, too. But it's the result of the plating issue. The entire coin is riddled with zinc zits. Poor coin.
