I found one of these a while back. Take a good look at the designer's initials (VDB) on the obverse. If it's from the same die pairing you'll know it when you see it! If so, post a pic and explain what could have caused this. It's got me puzzled! I'll try to get some good pics of mine and post as well. Nice find Coop!

Yes it does look a bit different. Did you find a listing for it yet? I've looked around a little bit and haven't seen an exact match yet. Most listings don't show images and using vague markers leaves you wondering. Explination of what happened to the VDB: The VDB is incuse on a coin. When the die moves slightly, then the incuse design moves and leaves the mint mark looking larger than normal. Tip of the dayThe incuse devices are raised on the die. So when these raised devices on the die get worn down/polished out, then no VDB will show up on the coin. Thus the mystery of the missing VDB initials on the post-1918 forward cents.Another image of the coin I just took I feel the other ones don't do justice. I did find one marker that is a match on one of Wexler's listings. 1962 1 cent WDDR-022

That's it!! Here are a few pics of my coin. I'd say we have a matched pair of the same reverse hub doubled 1962 proof penny! What do you think coop? But unfortunately, I too was unable to find an exact match to any of the few listed DDR's for that year due to the lack of or nondescript die markers. As for the designers initials, the doubling is quite impressive, especially on the lower half of the B in VDB! I'm not seeing wider or larger initials that you would normally associate with incuse doubling, instead I can clearly see complete separation between the doubling. Thoughts?

The marker that confirmed it to me is the Bot on the top of the 5th column. That was the marker Wexler mentioned. Mine had it.
