There is split plating but also a shelf to the east inside and outside of the mm. Either MD or rpm.? Will wait for the experts on this.

I see what you are talking about, the the East inside the mint mark is also part of the split plating. The plating rolls upwards and makes it look like something is there, when there actually isn't.  Note on my coin how the split plating rolls upward and make it look like it is a RPM?

I did either until I found this example. I thought I had something, until I looked closer and saw the zinc under the plating.

Split Plating. Discolor and roll back.
But in the future some RPM's are hanging out with Split Plating. Keep your open for both at the same time it happens.
