The following is a release from the US MintWASHINGTON - The United States Mint will open sales for the March of Dimes Silver Dollar beginning March 13 at noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Public Law 112-209 authorizes the bureau to mint and issue up to 500,000 proof and uncirculated quality silver dollar coins in recognition and celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the March of Dimes Foundation (Foundation). Customer demand will determine the ratio of proof to uncirculated coins minted within the authorized mintage limits. Pricing is as follows: *The introductory sales period ends April 13, 2015, at 3 p.m. EDT, when regular pricing takes effect.Orders will be accepted at http://catalog.usmint.gov and at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), while hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may order at 1-888-321-MINT. The bureau will offer a special three-coin set later in the year consisting of a March of Dimes proof silver dollar and a proof silver dime, both minted at the United States Mint at West Point, and a reverse proof silver dime from the United States Mint at Philadelphia. The silver dimes are not available individually or in any other set. A certificate of authenticity is included with all product options.

Is this the same coin that comes with the dime set?

I think only the proof one comes in the dime set.

I just rather get the W dime rather than paying for all the coins I don't want.

Count me in for at least one 3-coin set. Not sure if I'll get the individual $1 coins.

I will not get the individual commemorative coins. I do like dimes, so the set makes sense.

I'm probably going to get a three coin set also. If only they sold the dimes separately. They really are the highlight. The dollar essentially just allows the Mint to charge more... and a good job it does.

I find the dollar to be horrid. But, I want the dimes. So I will be buying the set, but not liking it. Depending on the price I will buy multiples for resale. But still...

Smokeriderdon- I completely agree. I always kind of feel bad saying that one of the new coins looks hideous, but many unfortunately do, this one included. It's a great cause, and the image on the coin is quite nice, but on a coin... not so much. The dimes on the other hand...

I really want the dime set but I'm thinking of picking up the proof dollar today since it's up. Does anyone know a free shipping or promo code for the mint? I don't want to pay the $46.95 for the single coin and then have to pay an additional $5 on top of that! Thanks in advance!

The set reminds me of the old joke "You were so ugly they had to tie a pork chop around your neck to get the dog to play with you" Put two special dimes in the set to get collectors to buy the dollar.

I got the pamphlet in the mail last week and have been thinking about it, but (like lots of other offers) I just don't think it's worth the expense. I don't think the dollar coin looks as bad as others think, but I don't collect commemorative coins, so I'll pass for now. The trouble is that I DO want the upcoming dimes, so I'll probably get stuck buying the 3-coin set later this year. I'll put the dimes with the rest of mine and maybe try to sell the dollar coin to try and get some of my cost back. Quote: I don't want to pay the $46.95 for the single coin and then have to pay an additional $5 on top of that! Thanks in advance! Just buy it now, and consider the "Introductory" price as getting it at the regular price with free shipping.
