I wonder if Capitol will make a holder for the 3 coin set since they are undersized. Are they still current or just cranking out the same old off the shelf stuff like Dansco?

Is Capitol Plastics still even making holders?

Capital Plastics is a company that seems to be stuck in a rut. They don't seem to be offering any new technologies. Their website even has multiple images missing. It's a shame because I think demand would be there if they'd come up with something new.

Not sure this is germane to the topic, but I used t think the Capital Plastics holders were a beautiful way to display coins (though I didn't then, nor do I have any now). That was over 40 years ago. Now I look at them and wonder if they don't have the potentiality to damage (albeit ever so slightly) the rim of a coin. Am I right/wrong? Always wanted my birth year (1950) proof set in one of those.

I wish the mint would hurry up sell more gold Mercury dimes and also release the gold LWH dollar. I am a buyer of both of these coins. The dime fiasco should be a lesson to the mint. Now I still see the dimes selling for $285 and SLQ's selling for $700 online. This is insane since you can still buy the LSQ at the mint for $485. Perhaps the mint should release the LWH as 1 per household as a trial . If they do like the dime they will all be sold out in an hour to dealers. Even though the mint did not sell out on LSQ's they did right by limiting the sales at first so everyone who wanted one could get a crack at them unlike the dimes. The dimes sold out so dealers could snatch them up and then sell them for a profit. I won't be buying this coin for $285 when it sold for less than $215 at first. A sad fiasco by the mint.

Your prices are a comparison of pieces certified by PCGS as SP70 First Strikes ($700 & $285) to raw pieces in OGP ($485 & $215). Raw (w/OGP) 2016 Gold Mercury dimes are available for under $240 on ebay and raw 2016 Standing Liberty quarters are available there for under $500. I'm not trying to defend some of the U.S. Mint's decisions, which are indefensible for the Mercury and others, just pointing out the current aftermarket pricing for what's out there.

Since it was reported that the mint is already striking the half dollar / half ounce coin and since gold is down right now, I will go with $935 and late this month.
