Quote: JRG - your SLQ and mine have the same die marker on the reverse - check the rim at the 6 o'clock position. Interesting, I noticed that and was wondering if it was just my coin.

Quote: JRG - your SLQ and mine have the same die marker on the reverse - check the rim at the 6 o'clock position. Very nice job with your images. That tiny mark at 6:00 is of no significance unless you're playing the "70" game. It would be measured in microns in the quality world.

I received mine today, and I noticed that there is a small gold void on the rim of the reverse around 6 o'clock. There is also quite a high "fin" showing partially around the rim on both sides. It looks very thin and sharp. I observed the coin through my high power stereo microscope and can see several other small voids in the gold at different places. These are tiny and obviously due to gold flow not flowing smoothly into every nook and cranny of the die. The high fin is really neat and reminds me of the wire rim of the 1907 high relief St. Gaudens. I don't know if these "as made" small defects would enter into a grading decision if I chose to send it to the "P" or the "N" however.

Quote: Ordered mine on Monday evening Didn't this one go on sale on a Thursday? If you ordered yours on the next Monday after sales opened and got yours already and I ordered mine 30 minutes after sales opened on Thursday and mine is still processing where is the fairness?

This product did go on sale on September 8th, a Thursday. Perhaps you should call the mint and see what's up if your order is still processing. Credit card processing snafu or something, perhaps. Did you get any confirmation emails?
Fortunately looks like this'll be on sale for a while should there be a problem with your order.
And whoever said the world was fair?

My brother is in the same situation. Ordered his 25 mins after it opened and still processing. He already called them twice and no help.

Perhaps those of you who are still waiting for your coins opted for slower delivery methods and those receiving theirs already despite ordering a few days later paid for express delivery? Perhaps persons getting them quickly live close to Memphis where they're sent from?

Mine was ordered late in the day on Thursday of the release date because I was out of town. Said "processing" all week but finally got an email on Friday afternoon and has shipped

I ordered from the mint a few years ago (can't remember which offering) and it was stuck in "processing" for quite some time. I finally called and found out that the expiration date on my credit card had changed and I had forgotten to revise the information the mint had.

The US mint has lifted the household limit on gold STL! You can probably get 100 of them direct from the mint now :D

I would like to see commemorative coins for all the great designs of the early 20th century. However, you can probably buy most of the gold coins for about what the mint would charge for a commemorative, but your original coin won't be in MS70. The real gold coins are not really circulating coins. They are more like commemoratives. When is the last time you saw someone pay for a item with a 1908 $5 gold piece? All our silver and gold coins are just collectables. People don't buy stuff with LWH dollars or Mercury dimes because the are all worth more as items than as money.
