Hi, We are making a graphic about some of the biggest treasures ever found. I have therefore read a bit about The Midwest Megahoard, but I can't find the estimated value of the hoard anywhere. The closest thing I can found is this, https://www.littletoncoin.com/webap...s111798.html where it says the hoard was brought for a "multi-million dollar price". Can any of you give me an estimated value of The Midwest Megahoard? Thanks a lot for your help.

If only my grandfather hoarded coins instead of old newspapers and clothes from the 70's.

The hoard contained some 1.7 million coins, so a value around $7 Million isn't unreasonable.

My favorite hoard was the Redfield Dollars.

Thanks a lot. I'll write $7 million in our graphic - and try to add the Redfield dollars as well.

Redfield was good but Saddle Ridge is the kind of stuff dreams are made of!

Quote: Redfield was good but Saddle Ridge is the kind of stuff dreams are made of! There weren't enough gold coins (~1,400) for the Saddle Ridge hoard to impress me to the extent that the Redfield hoard did. The Wells-Fargo Hoard of 1908 $20 "no motto" double eagles yielded 19,900 - very impressive. With the Redfield Hoard, we're talking between 400,00 and 600,000 silver dollars. THAT is a real hoard of which my dreams are made of. Of course, I wouldn't mind stumbling upon 1,400 or 19,900 gold coins either. I'd sell them all and buy Morgans.

I totally agree darth. However, how saddle ridge was found and it's connection to the true old west, the story 0f who, how, why... all the rest just dont have that pinache. They were just guys or banks putting stashes away for a rainy day. The intrigue while there is nothing compared to a true old west romance mystery. Imho
