Ok no pictures are needed if I have to I will get some . Simple question I have a 1965 quarter and it sounds different than the rest . This edge definitely has clad or 2 layers. The thing is the sound of the coin is definitely different with a silver sound to it. Not mistakable. If I could upload audio you would think it's a silver quarter . What would be the cause of this? Is it at all possible there is a 40% silver quarter . Why does it sound so different?

Rolled thin? Weight? I know there are some that were struck on dime planchets but I don't know what dates.

For the dime thick quarter you are looking for it to weigh in between 4.2 and 4.4 grams. Look for lack of rim reeds and poor features.

This type of error is know as a wrong stock error.

1970-D Wrong stock. Dime instead of quarter stock.

Weight is nearly correct. Copper clad, sounds like it a normal coin.
