I'm waiting fr the silver proof set to come out. I've bought one every year since my son was born and will turn them all over to him when he turns 18 in another 8 years...

Pretty cool. The silver set should be out in under 3 weeks (May 14th).

I just received my five proof sets. Unfortunately, there are some quality issues. One proof set has a black spot on the shield on the reverse of the Lincoln Cent. Another has a shiny spot on the shield almost in the exact same spot. I'm pretty sure this spot was caused by the aforementioned black crud. This set also has crud of some sore right in front of Washington's nose on the Louisiana dollar. Another proof set has a large surface blemish on the surface between T and Y of Liberty on the obverse of the Kennedy half. I already called and they're going back. The lady I spoke with said that they no longer do replacement orders. She said that they'd issue me a refund and I'd have to reorder. Does this sound correct?

On yet another proof set, there is an imperfection where something was on the surface of the die on the Johnson dollar. As a result, there is a line cut in to the shiny surface of the coin that starts on the L of Lyndon and goes low and to the right. It's definitely a noticeable flaw, but seems interesting. A Louisiana quarter in the same set has a similar imperfection in front of Washington's chin that's almost a half circle, but is smaller. These are interesting, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them.

Also, there was way too much dust caught between the coins and plastic. The mint definitely needs to up their game when it comes to quality. If someone (who cares) simply looked at everything I listed here, they would have easily been able to see the issues.

Yes, I believe this is a relatively new policy. So are you out your $4.95 shipping?

She said that after I return the items and buy the new items, I can call and they'll give me a credit.

I guess that's not too bad then. Other than your lost time.

I ordered by pair yesterday. I hope they don't exhibit the same problems that you had.

I have standing subscriptions for all the annual sets... the main ones anyway.

Proof
Silver Proof
Mint
JFK Rolls
Unc ASE
Proof ASE

This way I don't forget, and if something strange happens to make them
more expensive on the secondary market, I am good.

Buying from the mint helped me with the 1999-2001 silver proof sets,
and getting 2 at a time helped me with the 2008/rev of 07 ASE...
Subscriptions also made sure I had 2 of each 2008 sets.

So... I keep my subscriptions up, and occasionally I get a winner.

I HAD subscriptions but the Mint deleted them sometime earlier this year, so I went back in and refreshed them.

Order History

Orders Total Date Placed Shipping Status

I just copied the info above from my US Mint file. I like the "Total" amount listed for the newest purchase. I haven't got anything in the mail yet (and may not), but it looks like another phone call to the Mint is in order.

I ordered two sets and am so excited about receiving them because they are Denver coins not San Francisco. I'm going to sell them for at least $1 million each.

Ok, if you don't believe me - here's my order acknowledgement. I hope they arrive soon.

Mine came in today! Nice!

Those ATB Quarters look awesome... I'm a fan of the designs this year.

However both of the obverses on my Kennedys appear to be covered in scratches! May have to send these guys back...

I received my four replacement proof sets today to replace the ones I sent back. Living close to the distribution center in TN is a plus. Unfortunately, two of the four proof sets have a problem. The Jefferson nickels in them don't appear as cameo as they typically do. They look more like something that you'd find in a late 60's early 70's proof set. Odder still is that they're missing the S mint mark. I don't know what's going on there, but this is just poor. I'll get back on the phone and get another call tag for yet another return.

if it is a mint proof set and there is no "S" mint mark... why on earth would you send it back?
