I try to pick up 1996 sets .. when I see them at a good price.

Just curious if others think the dimes coming out this
year, will cause the 1996 set to raise in price?

Good question. Maybe if the 2015 set brings more collectors to the series. The con is that the new coins will replace the 96w as the lowest mintage.

That has me looking forward to getting at least 3 or 4 of the new dimes.

And hoping that the Roosevelt dime series will get some new
attention. So far I have around 10 of the 1996 W dimes.
Would be nice to see something happen to edge up their value.

Only being in a mint set does not equate to being a winner. Think of the '81 SBA dollars. Those sets sell cheap. In the end it's about mintage and demand. I think Roosevelt's are the least in demand of the current issues, but the '96-W is still a minor key. The special 2015 will be even more keyish (if that's a word).

I understand what your saying about mintage, and that the unique
Dimes that come out this year will have far less mintage than the 96W

But .... The 96W is needed in the Dansco Roosevelt album, the
album "with proof issues". Not sure if it is needed in the non proof
album.

Because it is needed in the album, it might have a bigger demand.

Only time will tell if the 2015 coins will be added to albums.

Good question. There may be a temporary bump in prices, but I wonder if they will settle back down in the long term.

I am definitely getting the 2015 set. I have already budgeted for it.

Since the 96 W will no longer be "the key" it might cause the value to go down since there are plenty of them to go around.

Can someone please explain to this dumb canuk what you are taking about?
Is it the sets or the individual dime you are referring to?
The 1996W has a mint of 1,457,000 and the 2015 dime has P-222,500,000 and D-223,500,000
I must be missing something here?

@mschilling - later this year there will be a special 3-coin Roosevelt commemorative set issued with two very special dimes in the set, along with a March of Dimes commemorative. The special dimes will be a silver P reverse proof and a silver W proof. These two dimes will be a first for the U.S. Mint, and the stated product limit is 75k, so there will be a maximum mintage of 75k of each dime (unless some turn up in another product somewhere, which I hope they do not).

So do you have to get these from the US Mint or will this be from a dealer?

The set will be sold directly from the U.S. Mint for $61.95 starting May 4th.

Well, you can get them from a dealer within time, but the price for the full package will probably be higher. The Mint has the 3-Pk available on May 4th for $61.95. If you just want the two dimes, then I'm guessing that they'll be offered from dealers somewhere around $50; but it could be more or less.

I have to say, this is the first I have seen the price.

$61.95 is higher than I imagined, I will still get
one or two. But that price does not seem inline
with what it should be.

Considering the price of the dollar alone, that makes the price of the dimes $15.

My mistake.

I was just looking at the dimes, and not the whole set.
For some reasons I was thinking it was a medal with
the dimes in the set.

Having the commemorative dollar with the dimes
Makes the set a pretty good price.
