Probably one of the better lowball examples I have handled, for this date. Already sold it to a collector here in Ottawa... Somewhere between G4 & VG8 but as there is no grade in between, I'll go with G4.

I'm closer to G6. In this case (especially on the obverse), are those lines from cleaning or just old age and handling?

G-6, I saw a low ball 48 in about the same grade at a coin show about 10 yrs ago. Prices were stronger back then but the dealer was asking $2500. I don't know if he sold it, but he said there lots of collectors of low balls and that the 48 is scarce and demands a premium over other low balls. I like it.

, I cant believe there is even one '48 in such condition. that's is one nice coin, ill say G-06 as well. do you mind if I ask what you sold it for just as future reference and my own curiosity? if you don't want to say than just ignore me cause I don't want to offend you

SPP: hide and lock this thread before Pacificoin see`s it... I have a feeling he`s going to do backwards summersaults if he finds out you already sold it... I think he`s been looking for a decent lowball `48 for awhile!
LOL
As for grade.. I think G6 is conservative... it still might make VG however...

I don't know what grade Pacificoin's current 1948 is... we have yet to see photos... 'maybe it does not exist'

Ohh I was under the impression he didn`t have one yet that was worthy of a lowball set.... I thought it was a `48.. could`ve been a P7 `47... course I could be talking out of my elbow at this point.. I really don`t know for sure!

I have been looking for an MS-63 example of one of those dollars for a while now and when I get the money I probably will still be looking for one. Even though I don't have the money for one if I see an MS-63 1948 dollar I will need to buy it. That's why my parents exist.

Cool.
What did it sell for?
It is a clear indication that silver dollars were once honestly in circulation. And this one left in circulation despite, I am sure, people back then realized they were scarce and were looking for them.
