What is the story on these? Will they be back in print anytime soon? I really want one but they are all about the price of 5 ozs of silver. Are they really that rare? I have just been looking for one for a while now.

Dansco 7070 has not been available for a few years. Several people have contacted Dansco to ask the status. They state it is being upgraded for additional cons. I think the last I heard it would be out in 2014.

My guess is that if they ever do come out with another, they will update it so that the bicentennials, small dollars, State Quarter etc will all be with their respective denomination. I wound up buying a decently used one from a guy on reddit for $35 shipped (a great deal as far as I'm concerned other than the fact that the plastic slides are kind of cloudy... I need to replace them).

Silverstackerkid I had several older 7070 albums that I have offered to give to a members of the forum that express interest. Still have one left if you are interested. It is older, most recent coin listed is a 1979 Susan B Anthony dollar and does not have the gold page. You will need to replace 2 of the slides but that should be easy.

The last preowned one (current or last known page layout) on ebay sold for $$67.13 There are currently 3 up there now if anyone is looking. I paid $20 for mine new a couple of years ago. It cost a whole lot more to complete it http://www.ebay.com/itm/DANSCO-7070...07556949?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=331507556949&_rdc=1&nma=true&si=juiJh9qK1yZS%252FzG0fcBFDrFwKrc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I asked my LCS this weekend if they knew anything about them, and he said he calls frequently and hears the same, that they "are in the process" of updating it...didn't seem too confident in the statement.

I have one I filled several years back. I remember there being a similar album by another company that I considered. The manufacturer of the similar album is Intercept shield I think.

Yes, the Intercept Shield United States Type album is very similar to the Dansco 7070, but is a bit more up-to-date (it has the 2009 Lincoln Cents, for example). Quality-wise, it is supposedly close to the Dansco album, except that I have heard that one particular slot (an early Half Cent or large cent, I believe) is a tad too small and needs to be widened by hand.

Correct. That is what Wizard Coin Supply says on its website. The Dansco 7070 is reportedly being updated. I have a feeling if it ever comes back it will look like the Intercept Shield Type album.

I just took a look at the Intercept Shield Type album online and like the layout in it better than my Dansco 7070. Specifically, it seems to keep each denomination together and discrete from other denominations. It just seems more organized in its presentation for some reason. I'm wondering if the quality is as good. Has anyone here actually used one?

OK, I didn't know Wayne Herndon was behind Wizard until now.
