This one has me puzzled, I picked it up at Nuphilex in Montreal. At first glance, it looks like it could be a retained, yet displaced, lamination. But, there is no apparent damage to cause that. A closer look appears to be a die break? Your thoughts on this one?

I think some one was playing with a tool and a die( note the appearance of die scraping on edges of raised area). very strange.

I would have thought die break, but I've never seen edges like that. Cool.

I don't know... One heck of a die gouge maybe? Certainly doesn't look like any lamination error I have ever seen.

I think it's actually silver solder. I have a Ned Indies 1/4G with a big blob of solder on it (5x2mm and taller than the relief of the coin) and I can imagine it looking like that when it gets worn down.

Interesting find, maybe an air bubble / blister that has worn down ? ( poke it with a stick)
