Bought this over the weekend, what are your thoughts?
Anyone know more about the slab itself?

w/MS65 but think it's a PL as well in today's world, back then ANACS probably called it MS63 or MS64 with no PL designation.

Worthy of an upgrade I suspect!

65 yes but I don't think it quite makes PL... Nice dark orange album toning though! Definite Halloween decor piece for sure

ANACS was originally an official function of the ANA, subject to their Board of Governors. They originally Photograded coins - you've probably seen them - but went to slabs in 1989 for about a year until they sold ANACS to Amos Press. So these slabs were only in production for about a year.

I'll bet that slab says 64, but I wouldn't be surprised if it said 65. That's how I'd grade it myself.

In this case I would buy both the coin AND the slab. Can we asked what you paid? Anything under $200 I would call very good!

.....and I would leave in that slab. Consider this coin stable, historical slab, and more than likely undergraded.

VERY NICE! 65 PL
Rest in Peace

I agree with all who believe this coin must stay in this slab regards of the grade on the label. Cracking this would be like cracking a doily, sacrilege. I would call it MS65 and probably PL at my standards.

I am thinking 65 (with a good chance at PL). You don't see many slabs of this generation.
