Quote: how did you get 900 in fed rolls? did a teller break a box for you?
I went out of town to a bank that I do have an account. They sometimes have a few customer rolls of halves. I only had three hundred to spend on halves on me and did not have much in that bank account . When I ask if she had halves she indicated that she did, all kinds. She brought out a box and I could see silver on the ends of rolls. I selected the rolls with silver on the ends and the balance to make up the three hundred dollars . I asked how many more she had and she indicated that she had two whole boxes minus the three hundred. When I went back the next business day, she had only six hundred left. I am not sure what happened to the other ten rolls .

well.. I got one box today.. let me tell you. I have not been more steemed. this is only my 3rd box I've ordered, the first, recycled, total waste of time...2nd one.. all sealed, nf strng n sons, SKUNKED.. and this last one... as I approach the counter, they knew I was coming, they were taping it up!.. " oh this one was falling apart" the teller remarked. they sometimes come off the truck this way. bull ... so I got in the car, hoping it was an accidental open.. nope.. 500 presearched marked rolls.. brown bagged and 6 or so re-taped string n sons. I was fuming!! total waste of time. I didnt even search them. I proceeded to my dump bank to finish my day. i called the bank bank to ask them as nicely as I could, if they could order me a sealed one. she said she had another box at the vault still! i asked her to please check that one out if it was opened, she came back and said that it was sealed. so tomrrow I will go back, tell them to open it and if its recycled, to kiss my butt. ok ok.. I wont say that. but I will definitly wait and see if it sealed.. AUGH.. am I the only one having this much trouble with halves?

I can't understand why you are getting these "Reject boxes'?
When I pick up my boxes from any of the banks I order from they are completely sealed and every roll is String & Son and not taped/tampered with/marked in any way shape or form, etc.
I think you should bring this to the attention of the manager of the bank to find out why you are getting "unsealed/retapped rolls and re-taped boxes etc when you are ordering "Sealed Boxes"!
If he/she is no help, go over their head- get the name of the president of the bank and write a nice letter explaining what's going on etc.
If your bank is OK with ordering boxes of coins for their customers, there is absolutely NO reason why your box of coins is not sealed!

I just pulled out a box of coins stashed in 1958-81 left by my mom. There are about 150 Kennedy halves. I don't think I will collect these, but can inventory them to see if I have something worth trading ? To Peland, I sold a 1963 p Proof set for less than $8 on ebay. Needed to learn how the auction process worked and I thought that the proof set was pre-graded. What a joke that was. Next time I will separate the coins and auction each proof by itself.

SD, when I ordered my box through Wachovia (no account), I picked it up a week later and the manager brought the box out, cut the seal in front of me to show that all the rolls (string & son) were inside and said, "here you go" and gave me the box. I would expect this at every bank I went to, and nothing else. you have a legitimate complaint, and they shouldn't take it lightly.

What a bizarre day of hunting! I saw a guy leave some change at the Coinstar, and when I called out to him, he came back and told me I could have it. Turned out to be a Toonie, a CAN qtr, and a Barbados dollar. I gave the guy a dollar bill (he tried to refuse that too). I later checked the bottom area of the Coinstar and found Three Cents - one of them a 1930, as well as a partially elongated cent. Now - to the good stuff! One bank had a $101 bucket of halves. Virtually all of them were BU pieces from 76-81. MS-64+ on the majority. However, I did get four Bicentennial silver halves, a 1970-D (my first '70!) and two 80-S proofs. I can't believe that I've found many, many Franklins, Walkers, and even Morgans (!) in circulation, yet just one '70, ever! I can't figure out, though, how all those BU halves were in one place, along with the odd silver. Did somebody really crack open 20 mint sets?

OK you YNs, move over, the old man finally has something respectable to report. I'm going to put it in secret code that only we can understand, just in case any of the enemy is listening in. Just on a whim, I stopped by a new fishing hole after work. What the heck, why not? I was in a big hurry, so I opted for the express service. Pulling up to the window in the business lane, I said, "I don't have an account, here, and I'm looking for some half-clams, can you help me out?" BTW, you do see the connection to the secret code, there, I trust. Anyway, the young gal goes, "How much are you looking for?" Whereupon, I go, "All ya got." "I have 70 clams (i.e., 140 half-clams) in my drawer a customer brought in earlier today," she goes. Those last six words being music to my ears, I tell her I'll take 'em all. Got home. Joey and I just opened them. In keeping with the secret code, out of the 140 half-clams, we got 21 40% pearls and 6 90% pearls. Of the 6 90% pearls, 1 was walking, 4 rang like a bell, and 1 looked so smart he could have been a president for all I new. Needless to say, we're both happy as clams tonight.
