Thanks eaglefoot, she told me $250. So, I guess I'm getting half a box?
They seem very cool about the "dump" aspect as well, she told me to call and order another box when I was ready and I could just swap them out. Now there's a bank that wants your business!

All boxes are $500.00 when speaking of halves as far as I've ever heard.....so.....the only thing I could think of, is that you're getting a "bag" of them for that amount....or another outlet had $250.00 of them or something. Or if the amount you requested was only $250.00.....then she'll give you half of the box.....and then when you come back, she'll switch them out for the other half of the box. XoG - I was doing the math on the silver melt value too! Thinking of how I could sell that whole lot of silver halves and fund my coin hobby for a LONG time. LOL. What a dream find.........maybe someone cashed in a hoard at tax time?

This makes me want to call my bank and order 10 boxes.......just need to get the dumping ironed out. It is such a huge pain.

ok so side note to all the hype of hitting the comstock lode...
when you dump, please re-wrap your rolls and do not send them back in a fed box.
why? because when you dump them back in a fed box, it sits there for the next unlucky joker who ordered a box. that's how banks work. they order from the fed, and if a truck in the area has a recycled box that someone dumped, then that's what the bank gets...so [please! re wrap you rolls in brown wrappers, not string n sons and not back in the box it came in! thank you

I didn't know one could buy "Sting & Sons" wrappers......  But anyway.....I tear open all of my Fed rolls and then bring them back to the bank "loose" in a large plastic container. Where they then run them through the counter machine and put them into a bag and then, I presume, they send them off in an armored truck back to NeverNever Land. My bank asked me specifically NOT to re-roll them.....because they had to break them open anyway so that they could count them. So, thankfully, that's a tedious process (re-rolling) that I've rarely ever had to endure ! ...  |

well, what I mean is that people carefully open the string n sons wrappers and then tap them shut.... very very annoying to say the least.
i just got off the phone with a branch of CHASE and the vault manager explained to me that they get boxes of halves, but they are aleady looked through she said. I splained that the other branch orders them for me and they are sealed. she just went on to say we get whatever the truck has. I beleive her. that is why and I know people are not dumping them in a manner that would actually give the banks a clean box becuase people just re-wrap the fed wrappers and ed boxes.. so when an order is placed, all they get are recycled b/c that is that the truck gets...
so in theory, if you dumped your halves like eaglefoot or re rolled them on generic wrappers and did not give them to the tellers in the box they came in, we would not have this problem...

Peersonally I dont know why everyone doesn't just use the plastic coin bags that the banks will give you if you ask. No rolling needed, just know the amount and label the bag accordingly. You can even mix demoninations.

WOW! I'm reinvigorated about the Kennedys after reading this thread. For those of you who are getting "RED" marked coins: those are from jukeboxes. The operator and the site owner put a few dollars worth of free play coins aside to give to customers. The red daub is used to mark them so they can be set aside for the divvy.
