Eaglefoot,

I remember a a few pages back or on a diffrent thread, brinks has a first in first out poilcy so that might not work. What armored carrier delivers your boxes. That might help us out, more so than fed reserve rolls. Few if any banks that I know of get theres directly through the fed. But they use a change carrier that would get them from the fed, if they needed them. Which usually they never do for halves.

Stopped by a TD Bank today to dump some coins other than halfs and the head teller said they over-ordered and wanted to know if I wanted a box of halfs for tomorrow. (BRINKS-BLAH!)

Against my better judgement, I said OK, I'll take it tomorrow.
*Guess we just can't resist buying these things!*

I'll let you all know if I find anything or more of the same "ZILCHERINO A LA BRINKS!" (LOL)

Bank I usually don't hit up had $200 in loose mixed "uncountables" (mostly halves, and about 15 Ikes.) Found six 40% and one '64. Guy was nice enough to let me dump the clads back on him after searching, despite that it wasn't even my bank!

Ok, so I know I am really late to the party on this one, but holy cow! I have been very busy and not spent much time on the forum. That box is what keeps us all going when we get lousy boxes full of 71's and 74's. Those are the exact boxes I get every week and find 2 or 3 40's if I'm lucky!

AmMafia....

You know, I've never asked what carrier....I just know that it has never been Brinks.

And by the way.....there are three branches of my bank in town. I usually just use two. What I thought would be my last "half order" came in surprisingly today from the other bank. (not the recent one) The order was 1 box of halves....1 box of qtrs.
Just finished searching.....I found 1 - 1964 BU 90%er and 2 - Proofs !
The Proofs aren't in the best of shape....but Proofs nonetheless.
Also found 5 or 6 NIFC's that are dupes for me....and I don't really need, but kept.

So....apparantly....the same bank uses different carriers ? Or at least different locations ? Now I'm REALLY CONFUSED ! LoL Ha Ha
And despite my "finds", there were a lot of "black marker halves" too........
l
So, I don't know whether to "take a break on a good note" .....or keep consistent and keep after it.

As far as Brinks searching goes......(that I've never got to do with halves by the way)....it just seems that folks are finding Franklins and Walkers all the time with Brinks ! (customer wrapped too...but I can't find those anymore !)

Eagle - I'm still on a break from boxes/bags. But have actually found more in cust wrapped and loose over the past 3 weeks than in the $3K in previous boxes/bags.

I will probably order another $1k bag next month though.....hoping I don't get another one full of red nail polished coins.

SDCoinguy:
Here's my 1960/1980 stamped half. It's still got some of the gold color left, but it's mostly worn off or faded. Is this what yours looks like?

1 box -"Brinks"

Here's what I found:

1000 coins ,
multiple year/mint mark from 1971 to 2000 all copper/clad well worn.

No Silver, No DDO's/DDR's/Proofs/NIFC's etc. Lots and lots of Garbage!

Thanks BRINKS! Keep up the good work. (LOL)

am mafia,

i am feeling ya.

i have been pondering it for a while. I forgot about a lot of other things I had enjoyed before the coin box craze... I still may pick up a few coins here and there for my collections, but box searching has taken the life out of me some days. I know I know, only do it if its fun.. well it is fun, but mainly when you score more than a 40%. anyway, I still plan on getting a few boxes a week. but inbetween that, I'm taking it easier

Taking the break is good sometimes - I've enjoyed the time away from the chore of dumping all of those coins. I did order a $500 bag for next Tuesday delivery though. If it sucks - I'll stay away for a while again and just pick up CWR once in a while. I've had way more success with that anyway.

I'm just doing 1-2 boxes of nickels and pennies a week. Easy to dump, and there are ALWAYS keepers.
