Quote: Also in box 1 I found this ? which I also posted on the ID section of the forum, anybody here have any ideas? That looks like a European coat of arms. It's a token of some kind, though, it's no coin. I'll just betcha there's a European casino out there with the initials "VB" you can still redeem it in. Best I can do for you on this one, though, basicbob101, basically...

Got my first ever half dollar roll at the bank yesterday... In it was a 1969-D 40%er! (my first) I did find a 1959 Franklin a couple months ago in a 6 coin batch...

The last two boxes I searched had an enormous amout of 1995's in them, all could easely pass for MS, someone in the area must have broken into a new box of 95's; wish I had set them asside, would probably be at least 3 rolls! But every oneI would see I would think, well that's got to be the last of them, only to be proven wrong! (again)!

Got my 3 boxes on Friday and have been buried with work so sat my 11 and 14yr old boys down to search for me. Strictly looking for silver. Told them what to look for and pulled a silver coin from what I had stock piled and was going to shove it in a roll to see if they could pick it out. Pulled a roll out and unwrapped it, sure enough a 69 stuck out like a sore thumb. They picked it out immediately. Unfortunately that was the only one in the 2 boxes they did. Box 3 was no silver but did have 27 NIFC all in remarkable condition. On to next week, oh and my boys are hooked...

Quote:oh and my boys are hooked... You're terrible! PS: I'm just as bad. Mine turns 14 in exactly one week. I got him in baseball, he's on Facebook, he's got his iPod and apps and his cell phone and does the texting thing...guess what he wants for his birthday? I'm just glad I don't have to go into debt and can free up the cash.

me and my son have been noticing that a few of the 40%ers we have been finding are really hard to pick out of a roll.looks like they have a copper ring on them too.i was going through just looking at dates and found a 68 we missed by edge looking. anyone else notice 40%ers like this too. later geg

Yup. We've got some 40%s with smooth, bright copper edges. You'd go wrong on these every time just going off the edges.

I always check the dates. I've missed quite a few by just scanning edges.

Same here1
I check every coin individually by date etc.
I also found 40%ers in rolls that just looking at the edge's initially seemed like nothing was there.
I even found a 90% 1964 JFK that gave no indication from the edge it was there!

Congrats AG! Nice box.
Yes, I've seen alot of 40%ers that I'd have missed via simply edge searching.
