JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters: Silver, Proofs And Other Finds

Nice score motos! I have managed to scrounge up a roll and a half of 40s over the last week or so. Been slim pickings in our next of the woods. Have been finding alot of originally wrapped rolls of biccentials at numerous banks that looked like they were deposited by the same customer.

Funny you should mention that cashgardener the other week I found a roll of bicentennials. Wonder if it migrated over here?
Im hoping my FIFO LIFO theories stand correct and I can just power through half dollars until the brinks wrapping area has to go into old stashes and give me all the delicious silvers. I'm close to the 200 40% mark!

where has all the silver gone.8 boxes this week and only got 4 clads and 1 90%. got one more box this week. also noticing a lot of searchers marks this week.orange 12,s black cursive L,s red hearts, red dots on face,black 2,s.anyone else see these marks where they are looking. later greg

Chuckster, I am doing the same here as I had that same exact thought (too much recycling going on currently). FWIW, On the last go around I found another 82-P nofg (my 4th).

Mycrob - I also did not start searching halves until I read this thread. The first few boxes I ordered had over a dozen 40% and the occassional 90%. Recently, it's either been nothing or 1 or 2 40% per box. I think I'm going to have to agree with some of the others here - it's just not worth the effort of dumping $499 in halves every week for that. I'm considering a break also and ordering a box of pennies and nickels a week. I think Chuckster and I have stripped NJ of all its silver.

Went to bank today as I had a bill to pay. I asked the teller if she had any halves and she said she had $10.00. Put a ten on the counter and took the roll she handed me. I HIT A HOME RUN!

Inside the roll was 12 1967 halves and 2 1964 halves and 4 clad halves. I was disappointed as was shorted 2 coins (only $9.00 in the roll) but I don't think I am going to complain. I am used to getting an occassional 1 or 2 coins but nearly a full roll of silver is a first for me. Glad I decided to pay my bill today!! Sincerely, John Leckrone

I told him to come back tomorrow night with more of those because I collect them.
